The Center is scheduled to hold a meeting today regarding outstanding Cost Allowance (DA) arrears and Expense Relief (DR) for about 52 lakh of central government employees and 60 lakh of central government retirees who are awaiting a increase in their salary.
Officials from the Union Ministry of Finance, the National Council of Joint Consultative Machines (JCM) and the Personnel and Training Department (DoPT) are expected to make the final decision on DA arrears upon recommendation of the 7th Committee wages at the meeting. .
Informing about the development Shiva Gopal Mishra, staff secretary of the CWY National Council, said: “An official meeting between the heads of the expenditure department of the Ministry of Finance, the personnel and training department (DoPT) and the representatives of the JCM East will take place on June 26. The scheduled meeting will be chaired by the Cabinet Secretary of India.
Asked about the agenda for this meeting, Shiva Gopal Mishra of the CWY National Council said, “The meeting will revolve around the benefits of 7th DA CPC and 7th DR CPC of central government employees and central government retirees. During this meeting, we will discuss the DA arrears and DR arrears due for 1.1.2020, 1.7.2020 and 1.1.2021 respectively to central administration employees and central administration retirees. “
The Center told parliament that the frozen cost allowance and cost relief (DR) for central government employees and retirees will resume from July 1, 2021. The three DA payments for employees of the central and DR administration for retirees, due January 1, 2020, July 1, 2020, and January 1, 2021, have been frozen due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, any increase in the DA from July 1 will not be effective until that day and employees will not receive any arrears for failure to revise the DA for the previous period.
