New CFO appointed to Hamden

HAMDEN, CT – Mayor Lauren Garrett has become a familiar face for the city’s CFO role, appointing Curtis Eatman as interim CFO.

Eatman returns to the role he previously held under former mayor Curt Balzano Leng. Eatman was initially hired as director of finance in March 2020, but was appointed interim director of economic development in January when Leng appointed former mayor Scott D. Jackson director of finance as part of a reshuffle. senior executives.

Eatman received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Communication and Rhetorical Studies from Syracuse University in 2009, and went on to earn a Masters of Public Administration from Syracuse in 2011, according to a press release from the mayor’s office. He has more than 10 years of experience in financial management within state and municipal entities.

Prior to serving as Hamden’s CFO in 2020, Eatman served as Senior Legislative Budget Analyst for the New York State Senate Finance Committee, Assistant Finance Commissioner for the City of Schenectady, and Senior Budget Analyst for the New York State Assembly, according to the press release.

“Mr. Eatman has a proven track record in financial management, extensive experience in developing forecasting and budget models, as well as extensive knowledge of long and short-term strategic planning and government operations,” reads the press release. “His experience will be of huge benefit to Hamden’s financial operations and his long-term success.”

Eatman will begin his new role on January 10.
