Since Jean Mensah was put in charge of EC affairs, the Commission under his leadership has been strewn with controversy, inconsistency and outright incompetence in running the country’s top electoral body. It was under the direction of Jean Mensah that nine unarmed Ghanaian citizens exercising their democratic right to vote were coldly shot in Techiman South.
Previously, the country witnessed a chaotic goodbye election in Ayawaso West Wuogon, where Ghanaians were beaten, maimed, shot and even a sitting MP was subjected to severe physical abuse for raising concerns over irregularities. elections.
We must remember as a country that as of today, the fine people of SALL who are also Ghanaians have been without representation in parliament since 2020.
This is directly because of the orchestrations and machinations of the EC led by Jean Mensah and the NPP government’s looting brigade.
We are currently learning from our tireless comrades in Parliament led by the Honorable Minority Leader that Jean Mensah now wants to use $80 million to compile a new voter register for the 2024 general election.
How did we come here?
Can Mrs. Jean Mensah explain to us what she used the nearly $100 million she received in 2020 to build a voter register with facial recognition technology?
We certainly haven’t seen facial recognition technology used in the 2020 election and until today there has been no account of how that money was used.
Is there a reason why the auditor general refused to audit the accounts of the electoral commission under Jean Mensah?
And in any case, on what basis is the Ghana card the only document to constitute a new register when it is known that arrangements have been made for foreigners to acquire the Ghana card?
What happened to the continuous recording process as we know it from the days of Dr. Afari Gyan and Charlotte Osei? Why a new register when Jean Mensah and Dr Bossman Asare told us that the 2020 voter register remains the best in Ghana’s history.
NDC USA wishes to state unequivocally that we will join the good people of Ghana in engaging in legal civil disobedience as suggested by our comrade Ras Mubarak if this decision by the Election Commission to use the map of Ghana to compile a new register of voters is allowed to bear. HE John Dramani Mahama handed over a democratic and peaceful Ghana to the NPP in 2017 and we expect this NPP government and the EC to do the same when the time comes for the NDC to take office in 2025. Long live Ghana, long live the NDC and God bless us all.
